Nighttime fun time

Addie and Harrison LOVE to jump up and down on our bed.  They are crazy animals at bedtime!!!!

The dreaded toddler bed

Oh yes - and Harrison LOVES the new bed - he can climb up on it!!!!

So Addie had been having difficulty in her crib at nap time for a few months.  She would scream, jump up and down, peel the pink laminate off of the rails, try to climb out, and peel the wall decals off.  Yeah - it was a messy scene every time you went in the room.  We all agreed it was probably time to switch her to a toddler bed.  I had mixed emotions about this change.  First - it was a BIG GIRL move!!!!  My baby was no longer in a crib anymore and it was one more step to making the change from toddler to big girl.  Second - more work for me.  Of course she wouldn't stay in the bed.  Of course she would play with everything in the room and have access to things that I didn't want her to.  Of course she would try to escape outside her 4 walls.  And I was right :)  The transition was rough and it still is.  She actually cried when she watched some other Daddy take the crib off of our porch and put it in his car.  I had no idea she was really attached to that crib!!!!!  Nap times are pretty much non-existent.  I have to lock her in her room and take away all chairs so she doesn't climb up on anything.  The windows have to be in a locked position.  At least she plays quietly for about an hour - and then the yelling starts that she is done with napping and you have to rush upstairs to quiet her so Harrison doesn't wake up.  Once you open the door you will find her with a completely new outfit on (usually a "Sunday Best" dress and 4 layers of t-shirts) and the entire room re-arranged.  But I will give her credit for falling asleep right away at nighttime - so I guess I have to take what I can get :)

First shoes for Harrison!

Of course when you start trying to walk everywhere - you need big boy shoes!!!!!  He still has the same pair (it is now the end of May) and won't trade them for any other shoe.  I need to find these in a bigger size!!!!  The boy is sentimental :)

Planting crops

We got really into the whole landscaping/planting/domesticating thing this spring :)  Not only did we rush out to Home Depot on the first warm weekend (always a big mistake) - but we brought back a ton of flowers and vegetables to plant.  BJ made 2 raised bed gardens in the backyard and we bought starter kits for our seedlings.  Pictured here is Daddy and Addie planting these seeds.  She had a lot of fun learning about how vegetables grow and helping Daddy rake a ton of dirt.  What you don't see pictured is how these little seedlings failed miserably once they were planted in the big garden beds :(   So we had to start all over again with more mature plants purchased from Home Depot.  Exactly - let someone else do all the hard work!!!!!  And note to self - again - buy everything in May - not any earlier - no matter how much the early warm weather entices you to buy flowers - they won't last in April!!!!!!

The flowers of Spring

I hastily planted daffodils and tulips in September and was so happy that they all came up in March!!!  The tulips are not pictured here (came up Easter week) - but the daffodils are my absolute favorite (had them in my wedding!).  There were also a few surprises from past owner of the home :)  It made me happy to have a burst of color all over our house.

BJ's trip to Haiti

Although I don't know whole story - thought I would post some pictures for memory's sake since most of our blog is about the kids and rarely about what goes on with our personal lives.  I do know that BJ had a phenomenal time and the things he experienced in Haiti truly changed his life.  He met so many people and saw so many things that I am sure he will never forget his first trip to do a surgical mission.

Harrison's First Steps

Sorry I way out of order with these posts - but Harrison took his first steps the night before BJ left for Haiti which was March 7th.  It was so cute and he had a HUGE audience since BJ's family was in town.  Check it out!!!!!!!
